Runs rough in the wet?

Post by dan »

Ok guys heres the problem about 2 weeks ago I bought a 92 legacy. The day i got it, it started easily and drove and idled nicely. But the other day it was raining when I went out to my car and it started really rough (almost didn't start) and was idling and running really rough felt like it was going to stall but it didnt. I looked down at the dash but did not see a check engine light. What do think could cause this? It drives fine when its not raining but runs like crap when it is raining. Any info would be helpful thank you. Dan

Hi Dan,

Welcome to the board.

I would suspect you have an electrical issue or possibly bare wire.

One thing you can try, at night/dark garage, when it's not raining, start the car, open the hood, take a spray bottle filled with water, and lightly spray mist over the engine and see if you see arching or if the engine starts to run poorly. That should hopefully help you narrow down the area of the problem.
