iac question-re: rough idle

Post by blackmax »

I've just transplanted my good 2.2 engine from my 94 awd that I rolled into a 93fwd, AT. the engine has 160,000 on it and the recipient car has over 280,00 on it, probably the traany too.. one problem i have is after the car is warmed up, when you come to a stop the idle decreases to about 400-500 and cthe car idles rough, shakes when the brakes are on, a liitle less when you shift to neutral. I increased the idle by used the idle adjustment screw and that only worked fora little while. I.ve searched the forum and the IAC is mentioned. What does this stand for and how do I clean it. Could this be a tranny problem? any advise appreciated.

IAC stands for Idle Air Control valve.

You can spray brake cleaner in the IAC valve tube. It may help a little.
