Looking to buy a Spec B, any dealer employees with info?

Post by John Drivesabox »

Hi, I'm looking to buy an '07 Spec B and of course, want to pay as little as possible. I can see realistically nailing one for $30,500 cash if I play my cards right, is that unreasonable? I may or may not use my '05 FXT as a trade in, depending on whether I want to pay it off first.

Would I be better to pay off my Forester and just finance the Spec B? Or trade in the Forester and pay the rest of the B in cash? I love the Forester so I'll keep it if it also gives me a better deal, I hate getting raped on a trade in.

Any dealership employees out there with any good info, promotionals, or inside jive? I've bought plenty of cars before but this would be BY FAR the most extravagent to date.

What would you sell the Forester for? I'd like to get one and if I could beat the trade-in amount then we would both be getting a good deal.

The nice thing about trading-in . . . the sales tax break is BIG in your case. Would probably offset the lower value the dealership would give you than a private buyer.

IE: you pay sales tax only on the difference. ;)

And DO IT. Those 07's with their blue alcantara on the seats and the 6MT are NICE!

Probably no less than $22K, which is a pretty penny these days for an '05, even the XT with Premium Package. The only mods are...

'04 STI suspension (lowered 3.1 inches)
LGT Spec B 18" wheels and Nitto NT555 tires
Uninstalled Cobb AP

I've been thinking and am leaning towards paying it off this month and never letting go. If I do get a Spec B I'll start from scratch and still have the FXT. I'm also trying desperately to hold out 'til '09, the FSTI is abound in rumors and short of my death, I'm getting one!

Check out subaruforester.com, there have been a few '04/'05 FXT's modded and non for sale often.

So very nice! Diamond Gray Metallic is fine with me, I'm glad they didn't make it white.
