Swap battery of 35 - 40 lbs to lightweight racing battery 11.5 lbs...you do the math...

Also, lighten crank pulley is minus 10lbs or so plus a bunch less rotational mass n'stuff...

What would you run for a rack in its place? The power rack, even empty, is a little too strong arm to drive around much.

Just wondering. Ive pulled it on several other cars I owned in the past all FWD. There was allways a noticable change at the crank and the few shed pounds didnt hurt.

Not quite.

IIRC from when I swapped out mine, the stock pulley is about 4.5 lbs, and any good stock-diameter aftermarket pulley will weigh just over 1 lb.

Still a good improvement if you ask me.

Got another one...Anyone know what the seatbelt motors and track hardware weight? I can find out.

I was recently at a parted out Legacy (location i won't disclose) <grin> and saw the monstrosity that is this system. Looks like good for about 8 lbs a side.

Since I've already swapped out the drivers side for fourpoints, I'm going to be looking for a passinger belt system now (perhaps Canadian) and delete both sides. Hoping the door trim from an RS will work to fill in the a pillar? Anyone know?

Anyhoo, guessing 16lbs loss to delete wacky power belts rails and motors.

Oh, and when you delete the a/c the condenser in the dash weights 8lbs. I still need to get at mine and get rid of it.

Minus 24 lbs for me!

I'll try to get that belt system weighted in the coming days.

Cheers,
Adam

A couple of years ago my ride shed about 40 lbs.

Took out the powered seat belts, which was about 20 and went on the Dr. Atkins Diet for the rest.

Still have the lighter belt system. :-)

The power belts way a pretty goodly bit.

I can weigh mine that I just have sitting around if anyone wants.

I didn't even remove the lap belt unit in the center console, because that's like the only thing holding the center console in.....

The stuff in the center console doesn't weigh that much. I'd say maybe 3 or 4 lbs tops.

What makes the rails weigh so much is the motors. Those alone account for EASILY half the weight of the rails........

Yes and I use the existing rack without power. It's no civic so expect some effort, but I don't think about it unless I'm parallel parking and I can deal with that.

anyone think about the sun roof assemble? its weighs a good 60 pounds or more. you can replace the hole in the roof with a peice of plastic. and seal it with some adhesive.
