Why are there so many assholes on NASIOC?

This is for non-Subaru related topics. Keep it realistic please.

Why are there so many assholes on NASIOC?

Post by Imprezive »

I used to surf NASIOC a lot, and I always noticed the assholish/stuck up/egotistical/just plain mean attitude a lot of the members have on that Forum. When I found legacycentral is was like a breath of fresh air, everyone here is so much more helpful and considerate.

I'm not saying everyone on NASIOC is a jerk, but a lot of them are. They are always so quick to bitch and moan about people who dont search and are always ready to over-analyze any and everything you could possibly to do your car and shout (by typing :P) criticizem at your every move because it somehow isnt up to their standards.

Basically I really dislike the vibe I get from that place, and would really like to see more Forums like this one...

Most Impreza owners are males under 25. That explains basically everything.

I agree about NASIOC...I only use it for buying cheap parts :o

I find Legacy owners, especially those whom own our vintage of cars, to be generally nicer and more mature people...many of which do all the work on their car, and really appreciate and love their car, even if it has 200,000 miles on it, door dings, missing paint (like my car), Legacy owners love their cars, because their cars love them...

I rarely/never peruse any NASIOC forums other than the For Sale areas, not worth it. All you ever get is a crapload of contradicting information.

I'm starting to feel bad that I post more there than here now. The supension/brakes forum is fun.

All I have to do is search for something in the tech forums, and I get completely disgusted with the amount of asshat responses. I was searching for reviews/comments on manual boost controllers.

One out of two posts has someone saying "don't do that, you'll blow your motor"

Freakin nasioc......

yep, just one big ball of misinformation. There are those few who actually know what they are talking about, then those who poorly/inaccurately restate what others have said in previous posts. Then there are those who have catastrophic engine failure (or something close to it) and blame it on an MBC, a "bad" tune, or some other BS.

Most of my time there is spent in either the NWIC or the OldSchool forum. Sometimes in the oldschool forum, it get pretty interesting when you try to explain how to do something like a brake job on a 85GL. When the only reason they even own an 85GL is because they got a pizza delivery job to pay for the insurance on the STI their mommy and daddy bought them, and they don't want to put a whole lot of miles on the STI.
There are three kinds of people in the world, those who can count and those who can't.

All true, I think I've run across an a$$hole or 2 on this forum. I could name quite a few on Subaruforester.com as well. It all comes with the enthusiast territory. In general, Subaru owners think they're better than everyone else (because we are, duh), as do Volvo, Audi, VW, etc...

Just bear in mind that there are well over 100,000 members on that board. Granted, not all of them are active, but many are. . . and that's A TON of people.

Unfortunately, the asshats always shine in their own muddy way . . . the sheer volume of members just means you're bound to see that behavior EVERYWHERE on the board. :)
