FS: '98 2.5L DOHC heads

Post by FuJi K »

Hello all! I had picked up these heads a while back. They are in good shape aside from the usual carbon buildup. These are off of a '98 2.5L motor. One of the heads I disassemble and started cleaning it. I have 99.9% of the carbon buildup off and it's in pretty shape. The only thing is it doesn't come with cam gears.

These heads are based off the 95-99 EJ20R/H Turbo Legacies. You can tap into the passenger head for oil and coolant. They are clover style combustion chamber, thus upping some compression depending on shortblock it goes onto. They are of the D-style port runners, just 4mm short of the BIG PORT heads. These are basically casted so it's a bit narrower to allow more velocity for NA application.

They where going to be my PROJECT heads for my EJ22T build. Was going to put in new springs, JUN cams, retainers, etc. Thing is I wanted to run the Cobb AP w/ the '02 WRX harness. I can't do that with these heads; cam sensor is placed at a diff spot and cam gears are not the same. I need to sell these so I can get $$ for some USDM WRX heads.

Asking $300shipped

Why would you ever want to run an AP?

It IMO is the better in reliability. I has a lot more parameters to run with for light throttle open loop situations. Then when you go WOT, that's where it's running with the set map that's tuned for it.

Yeah but there are better options for flashing the ECU base map.

I have pics, but my PC's mother board no good...can't get into it.
But you can get oil pressure from the top bolt, coolant return is tapped into the head, and also oil return onto the valvetrain side of the head.

Let my search NASIOC, because that's where I got the pics from.

It's very doable, how did you think NA guys run turbo kits? ;-)

well, for oil, they would tap into an oil galley, they are on the top of the shortblock. they would then cut a hole into the oil pan and run a line for the return. then for the coolant, they would most likely tap the heater hoses that go into the firewall. thats how i did it and i though it was the easiest/best way. i have never seen N/A 2.5 heads with accessable passages. but i'm sure you knew that already!

There are oil galleys in the heads with threaded plugs in them...

All you need to do is TAP INTO the heads. that's it.
The TOP one is the oil feed, the 2.5L DOHC heads have a bolt in its place. The Coolant feed is not TAPPED yet. The oil return is nto TAPPED yet either. It is NOT HARD to tap into the heads for this.

But it's okies. There is a better pic, but it's in my PC.
