Dynoed today.... Kinda happy, Kinda not. 190/212

Post by douglas vincent »

This engine......

199? Engine case
1993 EJ22T Crank, Rods and Pistons
New main and rod bearings
2.0 DOHC twin turbo heads and intake manifold
550 STI Yellow Side Feed Injectors
1-1 RRFPR
M62 Eaton Supercharger
Mishamoto FMIC

Perfect Power 6

Running at about 11-12 psi.

Gave me 190 whp and 212 Torque.

This was on TorqueFreaks Dynojet dyno.

I tuned it NA as well. 85 whp and 101 torque!!!!

The good...... The torque starts at over 200 at 2500 and tapers to 180 at 6000 rpm

The good.... Butt dyno says the wagon is much faster and some on ramp runs "proves it".

The bad.... Only 190 whp. Really, really expected 200 plus. I blame it on the lower compression.

The bad.... I max out the MAF signal at 4500-4750 rpm (4.4 comes it, then modified and comes out at 4.98 or above). This causes me to hit 12.9-13.2 AFRs...... This is with those big injectors.....:(

The good..... Even with the AFR jumping from 11-1 to 13-1 at 4500, not a sign of knock. Nitrous is going to be easily handled.

I really really wanted to hit 200 whp..... Maybe I just need to go to a higher reading dyno just to say it.....

I have heard Dyno Jets read higher, atleast compared to something like a Mustang dyno.

190whp is nothing to scoff at! My car doesnt even HAVE 190hp...

How exactly did you modify the MAF??

I'm guessing not.... 190hp supercharged sans-nitrous is nothing to sneeze at, especially on a vehicle that came stock with what, 130?

I still got mad respect for your ride DV :)

Besides, with my burnt #3 exhaust valve, I doubt I'm making 190....

The mustang dyno's are pretty inflated as is....didn't know the dyno jets are worse.

Well "The Scooby" was saying he had his car dyno'ed on a DynoJeT and it put out 220WHP.

His exact words were:
The Scooby wrote: any why would you doubt 220, 16psi, full exhaust (3inch bellmouth and 3inch exhaust) sti TMICwith intercooler sprayer, blitz intake, your retarded if you dont think so.
AND
The Scooby wrote: apex-intrigration Super AFC, dyno tuned with wideband, VRG's FCD, 16psi, still had an a/r ration of around 11:1 walbro 255lph intake pump also.

I talked to my brother in law who used to own a tuning shop and owned a mustang dyno, he said he'd expect somewhat lower readings out of the mustang, around 180WHP maybe less.

220 whp at 16 psi actually sounds right on the money, if you figure that I am making 8.75 whp per psi ((190-85)/12) = 8.75 . Then (8.75 x 12) +85 = 225

I could probably tune again and get a little closer to 200 whp. I had a SECOND leaking O-ring and forgot I was pulling 2 degrees of timing. And have also figure out that I didnt need to ADD fuel, I need to pull fuel up top.

What was happening with the PP6 and my fueling was this.

At 4500 rpm, I was gettting about 4.4 volts. But I was adding so much to the signal, it was maxing out at 4.98 which freaks out the NA ECU. I need to keep the MAF signal BELOW the freakout point.

So I started pulling out fuel (ie, added signal) and have got the 11-1 AFR going up until about 5500 rpm now, and this is just on a road tuneing session.

How are you going to set up the nitrous system? Some kid at the high school I graduated from said you can't have direct port with forced induction and you have to have an in-intercooler spray. Is he talking through his hat or is there something to that?

I don't really even follow all of that....I would probably choose option "talking out of arse"
