93 2wd wagon

Post by Hairy_Harold »

I am looking at removing the chassis flex and making the ride a bit stiffer in my wagon. I am looking at getting a cusco lower arm bar for the front end, getting some struts with a harder dampening with some whiteline control springs.

Now for the questions, being a 2wd do I need the narrow or wider whiteline springs?

So I am told that for teh cusco lower arm bar the gc wrx one is the same, is this correct?

Am i correct in thinking that the kyb gr2 struts should give the car a dead feeling? Removing the bounciness of the harder springs?

I ran whiteline control springs & GR2's on my FWD sedan until I converted it. That along with an upgraded rear bar & wheels & tires made a pretty significant difference.

Really the best & most economical path is to upgrade to a larger rim & lower profile tires, get a larger rear anti-sway bar, cheaper ebay impreza strut tower braces, & gr2 struts. If you want to lower the car, get the whiteline control springs. They will improve handling, but lowering the car does do more to affect the ride then those other items (except maybe struts...)

As for the tapered or non-tapered springs.....I'm not sure. You may want to check out the sticky in this forum. I know the 90-91 FWD rear struts are tapered.

You should be able to look at your springs and tell whether they are tapered or not.

It's only a 10mm or there abouts difference in the taper between the two different springs though so it's not really physically evident unless holding 2 springs right next to each other let alone up in the wheel arch with the strut. I've just got some forester steelys for free with some 205/50r16 nankang tires so they should be sweet for now just looking at lowering it and stiffening the chassis
