I am somewhat worried that this solenoid is not working properly. There are three lines coming off of the solenoid, one on the bottom, and two on the top. The bottom one on mine is not connected to anything, and the top two are connected to the compressor and the WG respectively.
Is this bottom one supposed to be a vacuum reference on the intake manifold? Can someone tell me an exact hookup diagram for these lines, so that I can confirm this is hooked up properly. I am always getting 6 psi, and I think thats a problem The stock ECU has progressive boost, right?

The bottom line is where the excess boost gets bled out of. It hooks up to the nipple on the bottom underside of the plastic baffle.
If your only getting about 5-6psi, that means that the wastegate solenoid is not functioning, sometimes you can hear it clicking, which indicates its not working properly.

Yeah, I actually I do hear a clicking from that side sometimes! I'll have to look into getting another one I guess. As for the bottom hose, its OK I guess just to leave it vented to the atmosphere, if its just extra boost, but it will probably make the maf angry. I removed that section of my intake, since I just have a cone filter now.
As for the two hoses, how do I know which to connect where? One is on the compresor and one is on the WG. Can they go either way? Finnaly, what boost level should I be see'ing?
I found a used solenoid that works for $30.00. At that price, do you think I should just slap on a MBC? Is there any benefit to keeping stock ecu incontrol of the boost?
And, what psi do you guys see with stock control? Obviously the WG spring pressure is 6 psi.
The top line on the wastegate solenoid gets hooked up to the compressor. The middle line gets hooked up to the wastegate actuator. The bottom line as you mentioned gets hooked up to the intake.
Personally, I'd hook up the bottom line to a vacuum reference. My reasoning, the ECU modulates the duty of the wastegate solenoid to maintain a proper boost level. If the vent line is hooked up to vacuum the boost pressure will more readily exit the solenoid, which will help prevent boost creep, and probably maintain a more steady boost level.
So...that's my reasoning....it may not be as big a deal, but like I said, I'd hook it up.
As for the stock boost levels, 8.7 psi, or around 9 psi.
The lines were definatly flipped (the compressors and WG ones). The bottom hose is still routed to the atmosphere, but i'm going to hoook it up to a vacuum source soon.
I think my boost gauge is wacked out. Its clearly more power then it was, and its more laggy now, so its making more boost, but the gauge only reads 7 psi. I need to take that apart, and re-teflon tape it. But..... i'm getting there guys
Since I hooked this up, I now have a "flapping" noise whenever I am at 0 psi or greater. Do our wastegates tend to make this noise when the actuator is acting normal, or could this be from me having the bottom hose not connected to a vacuum source, and that air is coming out of there.
Finnaly, I cant hook up that bottom hose from the solenoid to a line on the intake manifold, because it can not see boost, correct? It has to be plummed into the system before the turbo?

I get a similar noise around 0 psi too. I'm not sure what it is. It may be the solenoid....
Yes, you need to hook that bottom line up before the turbo.
Its anytime i'm boosting, I may try a boost controller just to see if I an get the noise to go away. I want to pin-point it. There are so many vacuum lines on this car, i want to make sure i'm not leaking somewhere else.

Sometimes my boost gauge will only read 6psi no matter how hard I push it, then sometimes it will read normal, at around 9psi. Then sometimes it overboosts to 11psi+ (I didnt see how high it would go because I didn't want to hurt anything.)

I have been having this problem as well???I also have an issue when i hold about 1/2 throttle ( only some times) the turbo wistles really loud, and shows 11 psi,and keeping my foot still on the pedal,the loud whistle stops and the my boost drops to 8 or 9 psi.I thought i had a vaccum leak,but i changed all the hoses and still does this once in a while?
