WTF I hate how all these other cars have pre-made kits, and then when I was building the neon, every single piece was custom made, including the entire exhaust, IC charge pipe, engine mounts, etc.....
It makes me wish that I had a more popular modded car

Doug, what size is that core? i was thinking of getting something that was about 9" tall to fit easier. but 12"s seem more common. Can anyone else chime in on the size of their core? (wow that sounded bad)

I fit a TurboXS Front Mount in my old car without too much trouble. That was about as big as an intercooler gets. It sat from the radiator support all the way to the top of the bumper beam, and was 4" thick.
For you guys who know what you're talking about, give me your true opinion of ebay intercoolers like this. They are all over there, and you can get kits do fit WRX's and STi's for like 250 bucks shipped. They quote pressure drop numbers of .5 at 15 psi and 1 - 4 at 35 psi (which I doubt they actually did testing on), but if so, its really not that bad.
I have always been a fan of name brand intercoolers like spearco, treadstone, etc.... I am starting to get moved to the dark side though. A GTO friend of mine put an TurboXS intercooler on his rear mount turbo application, and the inside of his core through the inlet and outlet looked no different then our buddy's Precision intercooler ,that cost 7x as much.
So, I dont really ant hear-say here. I want actuall results. How do you people feel that are actually using this stuff? I may go with a cheaper intercooler on the neon instead of the treadstone I was planning.
To be quite honest....it's just a heat exchanger core with end cap fittings welded on....unless one smooths things out on the inside....an intercooler of the same dimensions from a name brand should flow and cool the same as no-name one.
There are usually differences like weld quality, number of fins / inch, etc.... But often, the cores are copied from expensive designs, so thats how they end up being the same. One thing I will let everyone know to look out for is bad end tank design. Some of the cheap ones use really poorly designed end tanks, which can kill flow, but i'd say 80% of the cheap intercoolers still use good end take design.
Big enough?
All the front off
Mounted
No more bumber beam
Bumber skin back on...
Still a sleeper?

Yeah, i always spray paint mine black, you just have to be careful to not go too thick with it. You want to get the lightest coat possible, so that you don't ruin the heat sink properties of the intercooler.
