Post by ericem »

From seeing pics of my ABS and other folks ABS units they seem totally different, i dont think the earlier legacies has abs though. But ill show a pic of mine its a Canadian Spec car. Just want to know if its better or different in any way, might just be one is 4 channel one is 3 channel but its hard to see in other pics.

As far as I know, they're all EXACTLY the same from 1991-1994 (I don't think ABS was available in 1990).

They vary between model years and transmissions, I believe there were 4 variations, bosch, nippon etc...

There's a post somewhere just can't seem to find it... maybe someone else will have better luck

I've heard the 91 SS had a Bosch ABS unit that was somehow better...

There were models that were available without ABS, but I'm fairly certain it was available in even the earliest cars.

Yes there are different ABS types. ABS was available in 1990.

YES thats the one i have, the Nippon one, never ran into issues, just in the winter, it sometimes sticks the relay, and i got to unplug to ABS, and it shuts off. Does it give more pulses? My parents in 1998 has a abs leak, but after my dad replaced the brake fluid, it stopped leaking, which is really wierd, but this happened after subaru did some tranny work on the car. That dealer was up to no good, they insisted we payed $2000 for a new abs unit, but my dad did what he did, and it stopped leaking, so i don't know.

What i do know is my nippon is still working :)
