ya its your lifters, my car dose it once and a while.

i really dont like hydrolic lifters.... its a normal thing owr engines do.

Hey I would suggest pulling the lifters out, cleaning them, and then hand priming them. I had similar ticking noises and when I did that it fixed it. I found a tiny piece of Fuji bond gasket maker lodged in the lifter. Its really easy just pull the lifter out and completely submerge it in oil while pumping it with pliers making sure not to damage it. That should prime it. Just re-install and it should be quiet. Hope it helps.

This problem is now m00t anyways. Turns out cylinder #4 had 10 psi during a compression test. When the engine was pulled from my 94, it appears to be from a 91. Cylinder #4 was badly scratched up so another used engine was installed. Hopefully no new problems with this one...
