Colorado Snow Blizzards

Post by redlineracer »

If you live in Colorado around Denver and have pics of the snow drifts or bunkers in your area, please post them on here. I am worried about my aunt cause she lives in Arvada and havent heard from her in days. Post away! :D

I don't have any photos for ya. But I've been to Denver several times over the past 2 weeks and things don't look too bad. All the main roads are wide open. There are massive piles of snow all over the place, but I think all roads are passable by now. They didn't really get hit too hard in the second round.

Not really of any drifts or anything, but you can see the 5.5ft pile on the right side of my driveway. We used the hell out of those shovels

My drive faces NE, so the street had nearly 30" where it meets my property. All my street neighbors were out the next day and we each dug a path out and eventually to the next street, which is plowed (1 lane) unlike ours (not plowed for 3+ days, and then only 1 lane). We were human plows :-D

I LOVE SNOW - too bad it's over

no pics but whichever jackass plowed my street(dead end) pushed the pile right in front of my driveway. got pretty stuck too after a bad parking decision but nothing a little shovel work and strategic gas pedal couldnt fix.
streets are a little rough to be rallying anymore, :( big potholes and ruts in the snow.
drove I25 on the evening of the 28th, was nearly crushed by a semi that drifted towards me with a jersey barrier on the other side, also nearly(within inches) tagged by a wildly fishtailing mustang. many semis and other vehicles in the median, some of the scariest highway driving ive done.
spent new years riding the trees at copper mt.(poached some awesome runs that were closed too  ) and drinking lots of beer at my friends cabin.

all in all the snow was fun for a few days now comes the loooong nasty melting process.

That's my son Ian and my wifes Civiv RT (AWD wagon with a super-low gear). I did a "mini-me" swap on it in Oct (Y8 vtec head, 10.3:1 compression), it's a really fun car and gets 30-35mpg (197kmi to boot)

Chad,
I didn't know you had a RT Civic in the garage. I had 2 of them, both a 3g and 4th like yours. I put DOHC ZC's into mine. They were lots of fun. The older ones are better because they have more clearance and come with oil pan and diff armour from the factory. They were also something like 1650 lbs. I would totally roll in one of those again...

Hey Matt,

yeah, our RT is a beastie. I'm investigating ways to raise it an inch more, as it has 7.5" clearance at the bottom of the oil pan as is (8.5" would be better). I've dented it quite a bit during summer camping adventures

It is such a monster in snow with the Dumlop Glaspick studless snows (or whatever they're called). I am contemplating building an o-ringed bottom end, rebuiding the stock head, and throwing a super charger on it (A6 Jackson kits fit) - then it would be an ULTRA sleeper. The vtec head is a nice improvement (way better flow and higher compression help the most I think) but more bottom end would be nice - it's only a meager 1590cc - hahaha 8)

Not a ton, at least on the 4th gen like his. I blew mine twice in a 6 month period. The result was I sold it for the down payment for my RS and the rest is history.

But there is a local guy with one that runs the SOHC ZC engine with the Jackson blower in the local rally-x. He's pretty damned competitive with it. I was impressed. And the only difference between the stock d16a6 and the SOHC ZC is the cam. There's 24hp to be bad from just the JDM camshaft...

Yeah, I've found a few folks with some kind of combination of integra/late model civic suspension parts that raise it ~1"... and all the parts are oem takeoff's (cheap!) but info in Honduh land is sometimes sketchy  so I'll just try something someday, someday....
As much as I love the RT, me Subie need some LOVE too. (then there is my '85 Westy weekender - talk about a vehicle that needs morale support... and the 32yr old cycle...and the house - gaaaahhhhhhh!!!!!!! :x

For the tranny - I wouldn't put too much into it, but I'm not sure what that limit is. There's a 6 speed crammed into that little case! Maybe the Super charger would be overkill... I am looking for a local shop to dyno tune it with turboedit or the like. That in itself may yield results that'll keep me happy (well maybe a cam too ;-) )
