So the legacy is leaving next saturday... one last week ... :\
Thursday i'll go get the ej22T at the recycler. I'll take some pics !
then, next tuesday if everythig is ok, i'll go get the impreza OBS
things starts to "move".. i'm eager to pull the first bolt on that ej22T
i feel like when i bought my first Lego box/kit when i was younger !!

Nope, not scrapping it ! I'm selling it to a guy in Montreal. This guy is a good friend of a Rally driver well known here (Julien Pilon from Lachute Subaru, was rallying this car : http://www.lachutesubaru.com/rally/phot ... gacyRS.jpg ) and has plans to upgrade the car
(intercooler, head job.. etc).
The legacy is far from dead !
As for what i'll do with the ej22T, i was 1day late to get a hand on a complete phase 1 ej25 block
(the guy sold it for 100$ the day before i asked him!!!!
) so i'm still looking for crank + conrods from ej25. That will be the major mod i think. Else, i'll simply change everything i'll be able to change on it (seals, sensors, connectors, valves if worn-out... ), and put it in the car next spring. Also Projected : 440cc (or more) injectors, intercooler, and if i found a "not to expensive" TD05-16g, that would be great
Sure thing, i'll have tons of pictures to take !! hehe

They had it, but i didnt want them.. i'll first install the engine using the electronic of the OBS + SAFCII, then i'll prolly switch for a Stand alone ecu (like the SDS)... so, no need for stock ej22T Ecu and wires.. also, they don't fit in the impreza (ej22T ecu is driver-side, OBS ecu is passenger side... )vrg3 wrote:Nice!
Did you get the electronics with it?

Well, you can adapt the EJ22T ECU to fit... That's what subiekid and I did, although that car's not fully running at the moment.
The SAFC might work okay for fuel but what will you do for ignition timing?
In my opinion adapting the stock ECU in makes the most sense unless you're gonna spring for a standalone fuel/timing ECU very soon.

I've heard about that timing concern.. and i'll have to find a way.. i'll probably go for a SDS next spring. (sds because it's cheap and it does to job.. hehe)
For the ej22t ecu, how it goes with the dash cluster ? don't think that would fit
and prolly all wires are to be redone ? lot of work to do on it.. i prefer to do that work on a standalone ECU that i'll be able to control, and dont have that "ecu seems to play with timing for no reason" impression.. hehe (like i had on my legacy)
thanks for the advices, any info is welcome !

I don't know exactly how he's going to mount it, but I'd think you could just conceal it behind the carpet.
I made the wiring harness adapter from a cannibalized ECU and part of a harness. It was a pain because stuff's so poorly documented, and because his car has a mix of EJ22 and EJ22T sensors, but it's possible. The research I had to do would help make it easier (for example, the EJ22T ECU pinouts on my web page are from that work).
But, yeah, I can understand wanting a completely standalone ECU... Nate from S-Squared is selling a nice Haltech system; maybe you should get that.
The big problem with timing is that non-turbos need much more advanced timing than turbos.

humm, that's some kind of work i dont want to mess with... the impreza will be my daily driver so i'll have to do everything quick... no time for try and retry
To much advance is what i was told .. so i'll be in big danger of detonation with that setup !? (advance = before "top-dead" i guess) humm... will need to run low-boost if i run on this setup.
I'm also no longer sure about the ej25 crank + rods swap... ej22T ones are forged and look pretty strong.. are the ej25 too ? not sure ! hehe
