My First RallyX

Went out to the track on Sunday to see what the car is (and I am) made of. No snow around so I was happy to have at least installed my big mudflaps to offer some protection. I haven't gotten around to installing my exhaust yet so the only mod I have is a little less snork (I cut it at the U). I have a boost gauge in of course but I could barely glance at my tach let alone worry about my boost levels

It was a lot of fun in the end although it took until my second heat of runs to get remotely used to the experience. I am new to AWD, Turbo, & Dirt... I could only really hear the engine when it was red lining, not because its quiet but b/c the road noise and upcoming cones diverted most of my attention. I was nervous about breaking something and felt like the course was really hard on the vehicle but the Subaru stood up against the abuse and the drive home was as smooth as ever

I wasn't too disappointed with my performance although I sure see room for improvement (understeer, understeer, OVERCOMPENSATION!!)

I am looking forward to the next one, praying for snow and hopefully my exhaust will be in and maybe even a Coffe mug?

I've had my 91 Legacy station wagon on the course here at TRSCCA twice, and the second time I was out I beat an interior stripped late model turbocharged Evolution - AWD.


he was the same class as me.

point? driver skill and tires make up the biggest difference here. we both had shitty tires, I was willing to push my car -alot- harder than his, because he had more power, he could have easily been around the course quicker than me.

RallyX is awesome fun. I do alot of rallies and hillcimb and still love RallyX. I have found the RallyX very hard on the drivetrain, but great that there is really nothing to hit or fall off.

Your probably understeering because your breaking too early and entering corners to narrow. Try to maintain high speed late in the corner and stay wide on corner entry. This allows a good weight exchange to front and room to drift on entry to corner. The harder you push and later you break the better the car will handle.

A couple of these events and you'll be hooked and poor for life - like me hehe.
