Throttle sticking

Post by BSOD2600 »

Lately, I've noticed that in the cold mornings the throttle is sticking closed. Generally after depressing the accelerator for a few seconds it'll become unstuck.

Should I just take off the intake tube and clean the throttle stuff (never taken it apart yet) with WD40 or something?

I'd recommend against cleaning the TB. I had some issues by doing that.

You could take off the intake tube and look in there and see if there are any large deposits of goo, and maybe lightly wipe things down.

There is a sealant that is put on the TB....a lot of people think this is carbon and clean it off.....don't do that.

Check around the throttle cable and where it meets up with the TB. It could be sticking there as well.

Like Josh said, don't scrape off the sealant, but if you look inside the TB you may find that some goo is making it stick.
