91 turbo sedan hesitation issue

Hi all,
my sister in law just recently picked up a 91 turbo sedan. It has been having a wierd hesitation that isnt consistant at all, sometimes its at WOT , sometimes at partial, etc. I have experianced it and poked around a bit but cant seem to locate the issue ( it doesnt help that the problem is intermittant, seems to come and go ) . Just curious if there is anything anyone could suggest, its rather violent when it kicks in, I was thinking the boost soliniod but I am not sure and she has no boost gauge as of yet.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It's probably the stock boost control solenoid. I believe Dave, DLC has mentioned this before, they crap out. Hopefully someone else will chime in as well.

I'd probably suggest a manual boost controller, along with a gauge to let you know what boost is doing. You might want to get the gauge before messin with the controller. If boost is fluctuating....it's most likely the stock boost control solenoid.

That was what I was thinkin, but wanted to double check before I had her buy the stuff.

those hesitation probs seems to be very frequents !! i'm still stuck with that prob... :\

Morgie -did you look at your wiring under the TB like I did...solved all of my hesitation issues 9that a fresh set of plugs did..the Bosch coppers I used were crap)

I'll second getting the gauge first. 2 reasons. 1st, when you install it you'll be able to see what your boost is doing during the hesitation. that way you'll know if the hesitation is due to the turbo assy or if it's in th eengine. 2nd, DO NOT try to run a MBC without a boost gauge. you have no way of knowing what your boost is doing. you could be overboosting and not know it till your mechanic hands you the repair bill for a new set of rings.
