It's been a while since I read the threads on bleeding HLA's.
Yesterday I finally had enough of the loud ticking at start up until the engine warmed up. So I took the passenger rockerarm off and proceeded to pull the HLA's via pliers over a towel. I remembered you had to pump the HLA by hand to replace dirt and air with oil. I was unable to press any of them with my fingers, or even pliers initially. So I used a Vicegrip to collapse the "stuck" HLA's then proceeded to pump them in the oil. Replaced all except two with junkyard HLA's that I "primed" in the same fashion,
. They pumped smoothly but continued to be pumpable (ie didn't really fill with oil):? Put it all back together and now it ticks much louder and doesn't stop, even when engine is warmed up. 
So I guess I just screwed every HLA up.
Guess I'll have to go back to the JY and get me a new rocker assembly.
So do I understand this right, you bleed the HLA by pressing in the little ball in the bottom while you pump by hand until you can't pump anymore? How do you grab the HLA while pressing in the ball? A good HLA is one that holds pressure, ie you can't depress anymore. All of mine held their pressure before I vicegripped them.
One did not pump smoothly afterwards. This was most likely the culprit of the original ticking eh?
Do you think that I can just repump all my HLA's or are they all shot?
