I would advise against cranking the engine if you have found coolant in the oil.
If I were to take a wild guess I would say your head gasket is toast or your head is warped.
As for bucking on start up, are you sure it was timed right?

replaced with fresh oil, and oh yeah as far as camshaft timing is concerned i checked it 3 times before i bolted everything back on, turns out the camshaft belt sprocket was a little loose, not sure if that could have a ton to do with it but after lunch i a gonna try it again,
also head was replaced and new gasket attached

Because the belt opens and closes valves in accordance with crank revolution and piston location. If you are off a tooth or two on the camshafts, you motor could basically be firing the piston during strange valve open or closed sequences. This would/could make your motor buck and run shitty like you describe. Plus you mention 1 bank being ok, but not the other, this again leads me to suggest checking the timing belt assembly to make sure the belt is where it should be and all cam sprokets and tensioners are installed properly.95LegacyLsi wrote:why timing belt assembly???

as far as timing is concerned i will check the postion and number of teeth in between here in a moment
ok i just made a video of trying to crank it twice and one time getting it to run, is there a way to post the avi file on the boards or should i put it on something else to share it?

ok here it is, the car tries to run and when it does run i rev to about 3-3.5k sound like crap...
side note the sound is off by about 1 -2 seconds it will sound like the car revs on its own after i left but i blip the throttle twice

Headgaskets would cause that problem.
I don't know how the car would react with the timing belt off by a few teeth, but maybe thats how it might act.
Are you sure the fuel is not old?
And not sounds like crap!
Did you try small things? like changing all the spark plugs, and coil maybe? Might be igniting only 1 cylinder. I didn't read your whole post.
But it sounds like a more serious issue to be honest.

I second the leak down test. It will better help you to evaluate the valvetrain.
You said you've already torn the head off at least once, right? Did you have coolant in your oil prior to removing the head the first time?
It takes a lot to damage the short block on an EJ22T (as said before), and they can take a shit ton of abuse before they crap out too. Then on top of that, the chances of taking out either the 1-3 or 2-4 cylinders both at the same time, seems very low.
But, if that did accure, then I would be wondering what in the hell could cause that to happen. Something very bad to be sure. Is a coolant passage in the block messed up? Is something in the heads? Is my fuel rail messed up? Am I getting a crazy lean condition on one bank?
It's really hard to tell from the audio in the above clip with the camera sitting on the car. It makes it hard to evaluate. Do you have a friend that could hold the camera for you and then crank the motor? The motor sounds like it's knocking so bad in that clip that you walked the crank or something but it could just be the camera vibrating against something too.
I really hope it's something minor and not something big and if I couild make one suggestion it is to do everything in your power to fix it right the first time. If not, you're most likely going to regret it deeply.

ok sorry so long to respond but in answer to your question if the collant passeage was messed up, this was my original concern because after breaking a bolt off in the head and trying an unsuccessful easy out I thought I had drilled into a passage thus why I replaced the head. as far as the fuel lines are concerned IU assume they are functional, though I dont have the electronic equipment to test injectors and what not....
also yes that was the motor throwinging itself side to side, where as the cammera was on top of the ABS box pretty secure.
I have someone comming to look at it soon and mean time I will try and find a place to do a leak down check on both heads.
