Thinking of buying a new car

Post by magicmike »

I've been looking at the infiniti G35 coupe for about a month now. I dont want a new one due to the sticker shock and the fact that a new car depreciates so quickly in the first 5 minutes of owning it. I have been looking at 1 to 2 year old ones and found a great one that I'm going to go look at tomorrow.

its a 2006 silver on black leather int.
11,200 miles
19" wheel package
Active rear steering
Navigation
moon roof
some new special key type thingy
heated seats of course

Basically a completely loaded model that was probably around 42k brand new.

I'm looking to get it for around 32k. what do you guys think?
This would be my strictly fun summer car and not really a daily driver. I still plan to drive my 150k mile wagon that I love dearly daily. I know the car would suck in the rain and definately could not be driven on the snow. Any thoughts? Anyone heard anything bad about these cars? I have driven a few of them and am amazed at the power and handling.

Haven't heard any problems and I think those are pretty nice cars. I like them much better than the 350Z and I'm an old Z fan having owned a 1970 240 and an early 74 260. Be prepared for typical Nissan expensive parts and servicing. As long as you keep that in mind, I would think you'd be good.

Why can't you drive it in the rain or snow? They actually drive very well in the rain.

I do like the G35, but it's GOTTA have the brembo's.

There's lots of fun little mods you can do, and the TurboXS 350Z UTEC works beautifully with it. A good friend of mine bought one when he wrecked his WRX wagon. He got a Sedan, but has done a few minor mods, and it's a lot of fun. Nicely put together car.

the skyline is a good car, but why get the coupe? Get two more doors and two more wheel drive. The G35X has all wheel drive...ftw

I test drove one in the rain and the stupid traction control kept turning on. I'm never had a RWD car before or even driven one to any extent. I have wanted one of these since they first came out and couldn't afford one til now. I litterally want to park it in my garage and rub it with a diaper lol

I think I talked myself out of it lol. I can afford it at the moment but there are some other issues that really should be resolved in my life before I pick one of these up. I've been struggling with the practicality of it all and it doesn't make as much sense to me to basically double my issurance and have a 600 ish a month car payment for a car that I'll be able to use for 4 months out of the year. I love the car but I dont think I can do it.

yeah...it's definitely a sexy car. You know the old rule of thumb though, never meet your heros and never drive your dream car, they'll just break your heart.
