Vacuum and such

Post by Gregmckenna »

Im looking at the coffee cup mod. I have a few vacum lines off (one coming from my valve pan cover an I dont know were it goes) but while I was in there I got curious. is there any lines I can remove an block off. I fidn the car just has TOOOO MANY stupid little lines running around. Id kinda like to remove the charcoal canester as I feel its just taking up space. any input or ways to go about doing this??

I wouldn't remove the charcoal cannister...it doesn't give you any performance gain, and it is kinda important.

Do a search, as the topic has been discussed in depth.

my charcoal canister was unplugged for 2000miles till i spotted it rolling around the engine bay, i have no idea what mine does as theres no obvious vacuum going to it. Lookin forward to the conclusion...

Your searches will be more productive if you use correct spelling. The search on the BBS is not as sophisticated as Google, and will only deliver exact matches.

Its a 'canister'

Greg, I just did the mug mod and did a ton of searching around for the same info. I'll save you some aggravation

Try this thread. http://bbs.legacycentral.org/viewtopic. ... cuum+lines

VRG3 makes a great post midway down talking about simplifying the vacuum lines with a link to a diagram.

I basically wound up capping off the charcoal cannister lines and running the one large line with an elbow into the mug. The line coming off the boost solenoid is the one I can't figure out yet( the one that runs into the back of the intake resonator) VRG3 said to put a filter on it.....but finding a filter to go on the end of a vacuum line has been difficult to say the least. Right now that line is just drawing air from the engine bay with no big issues. You can put a fitting on your mug for it but it's alot easier to do just one fitting IMO

Searching may yield some info but I think that thread should answer most of your Q's. Good luck

I read the part bout finding a filter being hard and came up with a brilliant idea! Nitro powered RC cars have air filters!

My old ones air filter looked about the right size and shape to do this job perfectly so maybe a trip to the local hobby store is in order. My nearest one is a 2 hour drive away so ill leave it to someone else to figure out...
