What I was wanting to do is fabricate a steel tank in place of the plastic one. I just was wondering if anyone has done this and cares to object. The only problem I see is heat soak and coolant inefficiancy because of the hot metal, but I could be over thinking the problem. Other than that it seems a good idea.

While nstalling my TMIC, I noticed the nipples for the coolant resavoir where broken. I removed the tank, drilled the hoels a bit bigger and JB Welded brass nippes in place of the plastic ones. These held up fine until I went on an impromptu rally race through a field and due to vibration, the TMIC knocked one of the nipples free. Unfortunately it is the turbo cooling line. Now I have a leak.

I believe there is a metal wrx version - not sure if its usdm or jdm, but Im pretty sure theres an all metal tank available.
Worth looking into before you dive into a project that would probably cost more than a new part.
