Hatchback Impreza (MY2008)

Post by thefultonhow »

Looks sweet:

Apparently it will only come in hatchback form -- no more sedan.

They pretty much have to do this in order to keep up with Ford and Citroen in the WRC.

whats the difference in WRC?
i wish Ford would come out with a AWD Focus, that would be awesome
the Impreza looks pretty sweet, but the hatch will be in America to wont it, not just Europe? is America going to go with the 2.0L ever?

yeah, looks like a mazda 3 on crack.
the front end is great but a huge sti style spoiler on a 5 door hatchback? pretty lame.
they just need to do a real 3 door hatchback. imagine how awesome it would be to have sub 3000lb subarus again!

No more sedan? That sucks. I wonder how much our subaru's = legos equation will change.

1.5 L? Diesel? Surely not in the U.S.

Very much a mazda ripoff. Way to be orig. subaru. At least the front end is fixed.

I don't think I like change.

Having a hatch?

I thought the multi-link rear would be less suited to rally.

Also I'm sure there will be plenty of compatibility between this and newer Legacies.

I am just glad subaru has finally gone back to a smaller car (although the same weight). I agree with DLC they really need a hatch to keep up with he french cars in the wrc (sitting pretty at 1 and 2 last rally)

idk it looks fake to me.

Keep in mind there were fake pictures of the 2008 WRX before, that turned out to be a VW I think...

Key notes:
The spoiler is blurred, the rest of the car is not
There is no radiator visible through the opening in the bumper or the grill
The spoiler projects out from the back of the car
The whole perspective of the car looks skewed to me, cant really quantify it though
The passenger-side window of the car drops down SIGNIFICANTLY further than the drivers side. Like, a lot. You cant even see the bottom of it.
Very fake lens flares coming off the headlights
The doors look like they have window frames... cant tell for sure, but that'd be very un-subaru like
Why the dual exhausts on a turbocharged car? Its not like subaru to make things look aggressive unless it serves a purpose

Im also bothered by the light flare coming off the furthest right hand part of the front bumper (as we look at it). It doesnt seem to line up with where light appears to be coming from with the rest of the shadows

With such a huge overhaul, why would they keep the exact same wheels over from the 07 models?

I dunno.. maybe it is genuine

But those pictures really strike me as unnatural.

The rear turn signals don't look quite right - Subaru and most Japanese manufacturers make the tail lights out of a 3 bulb system. I only see two there (brake bulb and reverse bulb) - much like the American manufacturers do it.

A 2.0 diesel is being introduced in Geneva. If that comes here they may get me back, though it's supposed to go in the Legacy first and they're talking about going bigger with that at the next redesign.

Actually, all BL/BP cars are dual exhaust, as was the SVX.

Ehh, I'm not sure about it. I'm definitely not feeling the front bumper, but I'm still torn on the rest of the car.

The Subaru gods have answered my prayers however, as the Edsel grill is gone, and I hear the Tribeca is losing it for 08 as well.

I gotta say I think it looks absoutely horrible. I mean the previous new designs, like the B9 and the '06 Impreza weren't my favorite when they first came out, but they soon grew on me, but this crap will never look good to me

I am sure I would become aroused...

Honestly, (and I can attest)...driving a 911 is about the most fun one could have in a car... :o

I would never buy a porsche, and its not like I couldnt.

I just really dont like them. I dont like the way they look, and I dont like the image they portray (when I think of Porsche, I think of 104 degree double foam low fat soy Latte).

For the same price range, there are a lot more cars I would pick first.

Porsches, or all German cars bar the Isdera Imerator possibly, bore me to death regardless of capability they have no soul and are the default choice for the posers as Splinter pointed out. I was at the Rennsport Reunion and have seen about every Porsche there is, racing even, and yes there are some pretty cool cars (or at least there used to be back when Porshce still tried different things) but for me they're like the beautiful smart girl you know that for whatever reason you're just not attracted to. My friend just got a 356 notchback from an old doctor's estate that needs restoration and the doors still shut solid and true. They're definitely well built cars but I find his Lotus Elan much more appealing.

I've looked at 944s and a 911s and really I found the idea of the Saab Sonnet III and a Volvo 144S I checked out around the same time to be more appealing. The Saab was too much, though, and the Volvo I was too slow to act on.
