Black and lonely connector (and is not check connector)

Post by Alvaro Alonso »

So, I was rewiring my alarm system and found a 3 pole flat female connector wich I don't know what it is for.
there is also nearby and coming from the same cable pack another lonely black cable whith a nude male pin which happens to be ground.
They seem to belong to each other as they and only they emerge from a thermoretractil plastic tube.

Anyone knows what is it for?

A subaru mechanic told my father (the previous owner) that we our car power limited from factory until he unlocked it 12 years after buying. He said it is to limit the car power until the car is sold to prevent handlers missusing the cars.

Could this be the function of this cable pair?

Cheers.

P.S.:Excuse me if I used wrong words but I'm not native english speaker.

I'd still probably say it's some sort of check connector to put one of the systems into diagnostic mode.....similar to the automatic seatbelts

Speaking of random connectors, what is the purpose of the one that is located along the headlight harness on the passenger side right behind the headlight assembly? It is a simple spade connector of a sizeable nature. Plugging/unplugging makes no difference to vehicle operation.

I was told by a very experienced Subie mechanic that the connector behind the psgr side headlights vary the cooling fan operation. I think it's a difference btwn turbos & NAs.
