Purge Valve Install Q's

Post by Soarer »

Does anyone have a list of instructions to replace the purge valve? It looks pretty well buried behind the a/c compressor. I'm not sure how much stuff I have to remove to get to it and I'd hate to make too much work for myself if there is an easy way to get at it.

Thanks.

Umm.......

I have changed that one twice on my car. Its a turbo. I got it from the back of the manifold. You have to take the turbo to throttle body piping. I use a 16" extention with a swivel on the end. A pain in the ass to get to, but nothing else had to be removed.

Oh, the secret to putting the bolt back in is put it in the socket, and putting a piece of tape around it to hold it in.

It was taken for this thread: http://bbs.legacycentral.org/viewtopic. ... highlight=
Hope it helps :)

Are you talking about the canister purge solenoid?

It's not on the same side as the AC compressor. It's on the passenger side under the intake manifold.

I assumed he meant the purge canister solenoid when he posted. Its behind the powersteering pump, not the a/c compressor.

I need to change mine as well.

I tried a long extension with a u-joint, but still couldn't get to it. Then again, I didn't remove my intercooler.......
