Body Parts Rio Red Sedan

Post by Richierich »

Parting out Bright Red (Rio Red, right?) 90 Legacy Sedan. Body was perfect but it had 249k miles so took out the rebuilt transmission and parting out the rest. Mostly the body parts are available but I might have some other parts off of other Legacys.

So all exterior parts are available except for the hood which now belongs to RedDevil (so same color is his monster)

Fenders are pending until I hear back from Chuck.

Why would you part out a car with a perfect body and a rebuild tranny?? In PA that would be like having a new car, just replace the motor. I guess what is trash on one coast is treasure on the other coast :(

It does suck that I had to part it out, but there was a more worthy car for the tranny, and unfortunately there is not a market here for high mileage Subarus. I had a 90 Legacy with perfect interior, newer paint job w/ 240k on it. I did a complete reseal, and full service and I had to wait for 6 month to find a buyer to pay me the 1500 it was worth. Also there is what my time is worth, I can spend it fixing up an Outback and make $1000 profit, or I can fix this up and make like $200-300 profit. Or work on one of our turbos. Just business unfortunately. Though any Legacy that gets parted out at my shop ends up helping a lot of other high mileage Legacys stay on the road.

Anyways, not trying to be argumentative (really just a bump) but I am sure you have parted out vehicle that others would have fixed, but we are both business men and know when to hold them and know when to fold them. [/i]
