Good all season/Auto-X tires?

Who makes a good tire that does well on the highway, twisties, and also does well in wet conditions and auto-X events? I've heard good things about the Pzero-Nero. What about Toyo Proxes?

What are your thoughts/opinions?

I put Falken 512s on my 17s, I havent tried them on the track yet, but they feel pretty sturdy.

My roommate ran a season on them last summer and did really well

I like my Yokohama Avid H4 tires a lot. They're noisy for an M+S tire, but that doesn't bother me. The grip is quite impressive, especially since I'm running them in high-profile (195/65-14).

Not sure how much the Pzeros are now, but I have them on my miata and they are definately a nice tire. I got a deal on them in my size - 205-45-16. I think 80 a tire including mounting/balancing.

If anyone is in my area, I can try to get decent deals on tires. I have a connection through a dealership I work for.

Bridgestone S-03's are great tires at the track and in the wet. Snow? Not sure. Onsale cheap at tirerack...

If I was doing this research I'd get on tirerack.com and look at the numbers - I live by those numbers and user comments - you can search by owners of subarus etc. really cool if you spend the time. You can compare price vs. performance - I mean the General Exclaim UHPs are really cheap and seem great in the wet, etc. but they don't get glowing review from people that track them.

You are going to get way more information there - looking at a huge cross section of users...than here. That said the Bridgestone S03's are 90 bucks! They used to be pushing almost $200 bucks a tire - they aren't snow tires at all but it depends on what you are after. I'll end up having track tires 17's, 16's for spirited driving most of the year and if I get back into winter sports - I'll put dedicated snow tires back on the stock 15s.

THAT is really the only way to do it right. My track tires are going to have asymetric or nearly bald tread - like some of the Falkens etc. Got to have some channeling here because it almost always rains or is damp around here...Anyhoo, get your butt over to tirerack and do some research!

Oh, and you'll find that EVERY tire has someone or more that hates it. What you look at is the number of people that hate it vs. the rating and why they hate it. Aggregate that in your mind and figure out what's the bet price/performance for you.

I've heard good things about the Pirelli's but they cost an f-load- are they a good deal? Hell no! Got a trustfund? Dunno. Are they that much better than the Generals which are more than half the price? For you to decide. Would they be good on the track (prolly not)? Are you really going to drive that many track days vs. going up to Bogus Basin? If you are a serious trakie then you wouldn't even consider an all season...
