JDM glass headlamp install

Post by Murphy »

well i dug into my new lights today, didnt realy get far though, they fit fine though, dont need and work too fit them, but ill probably end up cutting the connector thing off my headlamp wires and run the wires straight to the bulb
right now ive got the right side hooked up with speaker wires, just to see what it looked like turned on, dont worry im not going to drive with that
im going to put the pictures on here later tonight, ive got to go meet some friends for now

i just went to autozone, instead of putting the wires on the bulb, i got some new connectors, so ill just take off the old one and solder this new one on, should be alot better than putting wires to the bulb

ive never solderd before, but theres a first time for everything

well i got them installed, they are hooked up correctly
but i blew one of the bulbs and a fuse
the fuse goes to the front parking lights, i was trying to get them to work wit the city lights, i touched the wires with the prong and it shots some sparks off and didnt work after that

the headlight probably had my fingerprints all over it its been carried around so much today, it blew as soon as i turned it on

the headlamps looks very good on the car, the front end looks 10x better, thanks for the lights once again

well i checked, there is no fuse there
all the fuses (ive looked 8 times now) in the car are good

i think what maybe caused it, was when i tried to hook the city light up with the front parking light, i got a big spray of sparks and then the parking lights didnt work
so i thought it was a fuse but THERE IS NO FUSE for the parking lights, i have no idea what controls them, it says nothing about ti in the manual, ive read the eletrical section up and down

i put the wires back to the way they were before but i still does not work, maybe ill look at the wires some more later

So, what about all the people with those God-awful bright HID bulbs that blind the shit out of me as they drive by? I don't think this is any different. Even correctly aimed lights can be bright enough to blind oncoming drivers so I don't see any difference.

Are you talking about the real (~$1500, high-voltage, not just a plug-in bulb) HID lighting systems or the cheap knock-off bulbs?
One thing I do like about where I live is that they don't keep those cheap aftermarket or jdm lights for long as they're fined and forced to remove them. You're right in that it's awful and blinding, so leave those lights to the truly ignorant. Having the god-awful lights is just screaming about the stupidity of the driver. Ironically, it's as if they don't want anyone to miss their ignorance.

PROBLEM SOLVED!!!!! :D :-D
it turns out that i neglected to pull out everyone of my fuses and look at them thuroghly, i had glanced over them with a flash light to make sure they were good
but the problem was a hairline fracture on one of the fuses, the arch (whatever you want to call it) was completely in tact so thats why i didnt see it before, it had a sliver taken out of the bottom of one of its legs
so ive learned a leason in all this
thank you all for your help

i aimed my left lamp low for now, until i can figure out how to put a cut off in it, but its not like i drive much at night anyway
the low beams are a hell of alot brighter but it doesnt put the light were i need it with the cut off problem, but the hi-beams are freaking amazing, i could see for almost over half a mile, its 1000000% better than those plastic POS i had, i used to have to turn the hi-beams on just to see were every damn turn off was, now its as plain as daylight
