looking for a closed deck block

Post by boro »

Hey all. My 91 SS just took a dump...all over the street! Messy...
I should be getting a set of DOHC heads soon and I am looking for a block in good shape to put as little work into as possible, as I can not be with out a car for too long.
So...if any one has a closed deck block thats almost ready to rock...I'll pay you for it!

The ej25 dohc heads are not compatible with the ej20 block. For the ej20 block you would want ej20 dohc heads. (correct me if Im wrong here).

I understand that the ej22t and the ej20 short blocks are the same except for the cylinder size. The heads are swapable as long as you swap the intake manifolds with the heads. I see no reason why the ej22t heads will not work on the ej20 block. The exhaust manifolds are also interchangeable, even though the 20g is DOHC and the 22t is SOHC.

At the risk off taking this too far off track...

When I had a set of DOHC Ej25 heads in my garage, I once test fit them to an EJ20G closed deck block. From what I recall, the edge of the combustion chamber extended beyond the edge of the cylinder and I was not confident of a good head gasket seal. Ever since then, I have discouraged people from doing it because the bore differential is too great. You can obviously go the other way and put Ej20 heads on an Ej25 block.

You also can most definitely put Ej22 heads on an Ej20. I have done this using a closed deck Ej20G. I calculated the CR to be around 9:1 and it was a snappy little car running Ej22t turbo and inlet plumbing, as well as a stock uppipe and dp...
