WTB: 4.11 NA Tranny, in GOOD shape

Post by skid542 »

Just as the title says, I'm looking for a GOOD 4.11 NA tranny to replace the dying one in my 96' OBW. I am looking to add more power soon so I'd prefere something out of an RS, provided it's a cable push (right?). Let me know if anybody has one, knows of one, and how much?

Thanks guys.

Oh, and I would be willing to drive a bit to pick it up and not mess with shipping.

RS transmissions are all hyrdo, its not hard to make them cable though.

Is hydro push the same as cable push?

Reading more into the situation I'd heard that all 95+ had either a hydro push (NA) or a hydro pull (turbo). Someone care to enlighten me?

Thanks.

Well, that's not true either. What makes the tranny push or pull is the clutch fork/tob/pressure plate setup - the push trannys slide the tob into the pressure plate, the pull ones (you guessed it) lock into the pressure plate and pull it away.

The only pull setups are on the factory turbo cars. The only hydro setups are on the factory 2.5 cars (or turbo cars from any year) from 97+.

Okay. So what then makes the difference between a cable and a hyrdo as far as the tranny is concerned? Wouldn't a tranny itself just be push or pull? (I know what cable vs hydro is with regards to the clutch pedal and actuation)

And does anyone know of a tranny for sale?

Well, as far as the tranny itself is concerned, there is no difference.

The hydro tranny's come with a different clutch fork, that's about it.

I would offer you the one thats coming out of my car, but its probably even more tired than the one in yours.... I was going to take it apart for the learning experience anyway...
