WRX transmission stubs

Post by n2x4 »

I've done some looking over at NASIOC and read the threads here, but there's some confusion for me on the axle business.

So to use a WRX tranny, you need wrx axles since they have male ends.
On the STi tranny swaps I've seen, guys get the male axle stubs in order to reuse their axles.

Can I do that with the wrx transmission? Just get male stubs and put them in the transmission so I don't need new front axles? Seems like it would save me some money so I can just reuse the axles that I've already got.

Is there anything like this that can be done with the rear diff (since I'll need the wrx diff) or do I have to get wrx axles for the rear?

I had to get the stubs to put in my 6mt. They run about $100

I'm not shure about the rear diff. I think the cover for a WRX is different since the mounting bracket is different, but I'm not totally shure. As far as axels go, someone else here may know the in's and out's of that.

It may be easier to change to ring and pinion.
