some of my mail wagon WRX swap pics

Post by HellBinder »

94 RHD wagon with 03 WRX engine, 01 legacy trans, LGT brakes, lost of other misc stuff, still building it.
Took it all apart, cleaned it, installed the engine and now im onto the wiring.
06 legacy sterring wheel, subaru momo shift knob, right WRX seat,o2 WRX shifter lkinkage, clutch pedal assembly from a JDM WRX clip, Blitz Nurspec exhasut, (HKS intake and DP on the way)
depending on how my commuter cars tires hold up i might opt for an LGT 4.44 5mt, with a rear 4.44 diff built with a VLSD with my tax return. but i'd like to see how the 3.90- does first once i get it on the road, i'll be driving it up the Alcan in June, and ive got afew races against some Vdubbers before i leave

Iam on the 5th version of the wiring harness, ive got the wiring almost memorized.
I'll be fighting the fuel system for the next couple weeks, depending on if i use a WRX tank.

ok, new dp, and Blitz nur spec.and 02 WRX hood scoop.
My scoop install rocks, it looks like a 16yo kid installed it, but thats sort of the idea with this car, now all i have to do is order up the USPS graphics for the doors.
Decided to add cruise control and remove the A/c system completly.
got my 03 LGT brakes on and my WRX fuel tank and wiring ready for install.

I have a storage unit at an apartment for a shop, no lights, no power and a 18v cordless battery is my only power tool. ya i hammered and chistled it out, as much as it makes me sick to think about it, i actually enjoyed "cavemaning" it.
I'll straiten it out when i drive it to my co-workers house for the cage install and fuel tank swap.

Got rid of my roll cage, I already have a two seater so i decided to keep my back seats functional and lose the weight.
also picked up a set of 2002 impreza wheels and a threesome of 205/60r16 wheels.
I did the weight and power calculation for the qt. mile and came up with 2860lb car with 227hp runs 12.93secs.
So if i drive at my best i should be in the high 13.8 or 14 even.

so to my advantage the cars lighter than a WRX and has alittle better gearing.
to my disadvantage, shifting with my left hand and no lsd.

your weight and ET sound a little optimistic to me, but BAD ASS wagon project.
also since the wiring diagrams for the TT seem to be unavailable, care to elaborate on how you figured them out?

Its actually an 03 WRX engine so i used a wiring diagram from all data.
however the car itself is completly japanese wiring that doesant match up to any of the US wiring diagrams i have, but its easily traced all the way through the harness. And ive got afew other 94 wagon harnesses to compare the wires and where they run.

the absolute widests tires you can run on a legacy are 225/60r16's
i'll post up some pictures tonight of how fucking wide they are and the clearance and pics of the wheels and wiring. maybe a vid if i start it today.

You can run wider than 225's on a Legacy. It was done on my old car.
2009 Outback 2.5XT. 5MT. Satin White Pearl.
2009 Impreza 2.5i Premium. Blue.

really, mine actually rub on the rear rt side, (very little) Iam gonna see about getting some newer style WRX or outback rear locating arms to see if it will pull the camber in abit. if not i'll just shim them up with washers. I forgot my camara in the shop again. i guess i cant complain $40 for 4 tires with 8/32 tread left.

This last weekend i got the fuel tank wiring sorted out, and cleaned up the garage.
Also ive got a problem with my intermitten wipers, rear wiper, squirters and head lights. So maybe i need the DRL box maybe it would fix the headlights, but the other stuff could be related to the absence of afew relays under the dash on the passenger side.

The subaru dealer officially does not have any wiring for RHD viehicles and the australian dealerships say that i need to go through a US dealership to get them.
i did find a RHD 93 legacy service manual online for sale.

Installed the WRX tank today, got the evap and vent lines plumbed.
Also put in the VLSD, Blitz BOV and mocked up the Nur spec exhaust.

still doing the wiring, i get about 12 wires done every 8 hrs i invest in the car.
Now iam onto ecu tuning, from what ive read online and from what other WRX tuners at the track say, my setup with a properly tuned (Properly, meaning spending $900) ecu i can have a safe and reliable 265-280hp. with all optimism aside and 91 in the tank i'd think more like 230 to the wheels.

next month im looking at UTEC piggy back or Ecutek flash.
In the next few months im looking at getting a turbo inlet, lw flywheel, upgrade the clutch, injectors, pulleys and maybe a BeeRacing ignition limiter for those missed LH sifts.
