anyone here play 1nsane?

Post by 206er »

I just found out about this awesome free game from another forum I lurk on. if you are at all a fan of baja type stuff or rock crawling, I HIGHLY recomend it. and did I mention its free? :-D the physics in the high speed stuff is not up to the level of say GT4, but the rockcrawling seems great. however I havent played a game that has better selection of vehicles than this, and really, is there any other game that has realistic rock crawling in it? the best part is that there is a community of people who create tons of vehicles and new maps for it! I just started playing it a few days ago and already downloaded a couple trophy trucks, a unimog 406, some crazy rock crawling buggies, series 1 landrover truggy, etc. there are class 5 baja bugs, class 1 buggies, a bunch of class 8 trucks, formula offroad cars, rally cars, lots of stock vehicles, and some wierd stuff like 1960's communist russian 6x6 trucks too. plus a shit ton of cool maps. the regular gameplay is a lot of fun too.

download the game from here, its about 529mb

ftp://downloads.codemasters.com/digital ... 1NSANE.exe

when you download it, make note of the location

then download patch 2 from here:

http://www.insaneheat.com/Patches/1nsanePatch2.zip

and extract the files to the location where the huge game file loaded to.

to download cars, go to
http://www.insaneheat.com/index.php

download whatever vehicles you want, and extract them to the vehicles folder which will be in the data folder which you will find in the main folder of the game.

Man, i havent played that game in YEARS! It wasnt free when I 1st played, but im glad to hear its free now. That game sucked for racing, but your right... for rock crawling or off-road fun there is none better. Plus the damage in the game is as realistic as it gets (100x better than the damage in GTA). Im gonna have to re-install and play it now that there is more fanbase and now customizable vehicles.

Are we talking Insane Offroad?!?!

If that is the case, then I am a huge fan

I remember sitting over spring break during my Soph. year of high school playing it with my best friend. lol

Not Insane Offroad, the game is actually titled 1NSANE with a 1. The title graphic is a license plate with 1NSANE on it.

read my original post again. there is a patch you need to download, extract the file to the game location, and run the patch.

it does away with the box asking for your identification code or whatever, the files you replace are tweaked to allow access to the game without a password.
the game location will be something like
C/: program files/codemasters/1nsane

which is where you extract the patch to, use "extract all files" and paste that in. once youve done that, run the patch and say yes to replacing all the files and then it should work.

At first I was like this sounds like a cool game. then I played and I was like I've played this before only it's been several years.

ive gotten almost all the Jeeps available for download, the only ones i dont have are models i already downloaded, i got a Defender, 83' Silverado 2wd and 4wd, Dodge Ram 4x4, Landcruiser FJ60 (modified), 70' Plymouth Barracuda, Corvette, Nissan Frontier 4x4, GMC trophy truck, F350 trophy truck, Unimog, Pontiac Firefly (still dont know why), and a 78' Trans Am, and some wired rock crawler thing

the Dodge Ram and modified FJ60 are the best ones i got, the 2wd Silverado isnt bad either though

go on that download page and get the map called viper. it is about 40 of the most impossible rock trails, takes about 10-20 tries with the sickest buggy to get through some of em.
any of the courses with the word baja are pretty fun for the high speed stuff.

Yeah, i tried downloading the game last night, and that link doesnt work. Not sure if its my browser having trouble connecting to a FTP (MSIE 7) but it wont download.

So I installed the copy i had tucked away from long ago. I also downloaded the patch and some maps... but nothing seemed to work. I think maybe its cause i have the UK version.
