5sp Swap: Locating Parts

Post by Cynt »

I found a WRX tranny localy for $300, so i need all the other swap parts. wheres a good place online to get them? my biggest worry being the rear dif and axels and shipping them here to Hawaii, I could not get it from the donor car as the shell got stolen.

any suggestions?

You shouldn't need an axle or rear differential with a WRX transmission. Look at the other swap threads to confirm this.

A 5MT Legacy driveshaft will be needed. Almost anything else should be able to be sourced from older Legacy 5MTs and Imprezas.

A straight WRX trans swap will require a 3.54 rear diff. The WRX has a 1.1:1 transfercase that our cars do not have.

You'll need the rear axles, but depending on what year the WRX trans is, you can reuse the old axles.

Driveshaft is the same, just different flanges at the ends. If you get those, you can reuse the old driveshaft.

Best place to source WRX parts is www.nasioc.com

That's where I got all my parts for my swap. BTW- $300 is a really good deal on a tranny.
