5mt swap pedal box interference

Post by subinubi »

I didn't experience a problem with the brake master interfering with the pedal box assembly install. My interference problem is with the large wiring harness at the top of the dash just over the assembly. I couldn't find any reference to this problem, but there is no way to attach the pedal box to the top of the dash because the L shaped wiring protector is in the way. The only pic I've seen show it moved to the right of the clutch master rod lever. Mine won't move that far over because it runs into the heater guard.

As much as I would like to retain the wiring cover, it looks like I'll have to cut away some of it to push the gaggle of wires upwards so I can attach the upper pedal assy bolts. Am I the only one to have run across this problem?

At least you can bolt it to the chassis. On the 90 MY's, the metal piece isn't there, so I don't have anything to bolt that one spot to. I don't think it's too big a deal, but it would be nice to have it bolted up.

I'd suggest just cutting the wiring guard.

i had the same issue with my TW when i did my swap. I ended up just working it up in there.. it took a while and there arent any issues so far. i didnt have to alter the plastic piece at all i just really shuved it up in there untill i could start tightening the nuts and worked it in from there.
