Boost Gauge Installed.

Post by TheSubaruJunkie »

Got tired of my gauge sitting in my glovebox, so I went and bought a mount and installed it. I used the same mount Ryan used and the gauge is an Autometer 4303.

It blocks my view of my gas gauge. But I can still see the trip meter. And I know i get 200mi per tank, so maybe this will help keep me from staring at my fuel gauge and getting pissed off as often.
I removed the stereo console and found the light that illuminates my ashtray. I wired the gauge's bulb into the ashtray light wiring so the gauge dims with my dimmer.

Now that this is installed, next week I'll put my intercooler and manual boost controller in :)

I got it at a local auto store called Tognotti's. They are a hotrod/import type place with a ton of aftermarket parts. Its an autometer 2" universal mount.

The line is T'd into a vacuum port, just off of the intake manifold on the passenger side. Look at your MAF and pan over to your intake manifold, you cant miss it.

No, this guage is sweet. Needle is solid. I had a real cheap boost gauge in my last car that bounced around alot... pissed me off cause i didnt know if i was running 5 or 7lbs of boost. Thats when I decided never to buy another cheap gauge. This gauge lists for $75, got it off ebay for $48.

Isspro, VDO and Defi make the best gauges in my opinion...

All are pretty spendy though, especially Defi

heres a pic of my gauge. i was planing on posting a pic along time ago but i forgot about it.

Image

i used to work for a sheet metal company and got free metal all the time so, i congered up a mount my self. its just a strip that i cut and sprayed it black. bent it around my gauge and got some wood screws. and blaw.

Image

when your sitting in the drivers seat the gauge is right in the center of the tak. so its never in the way.

Wow when was your fuel filter changed last? My tw was doing about 200miles to a tank and as soon as i changed the filter i shit you not the thing got faster ran better and got 50-100 more miles to a tank. Depending on how I drive but I would say it was a 50mile increase on a tank.
