N/A Tranny?

I am going to be swapping a 5 speed in to my Turbo Wagon, but since I have seen only one other Turbo Leg here parts are scarce. So would it be worth it to just swap the N/A 5 speed and bits I have into the car or just wait it out for a turbo transmission and bits.

It's pretty much a matter of personal opinion, but here's the way I see it:

NA 5MT is weakest, but most readily available, and cheapest. Odds are also that a used one wasn't beat on very hard.

Turbo 5MT stronger gears, but they still break (mine has a blown first, others will chime in with other broken gears as well). Harder to find, more expensive, and who knows if it wasn't beat to hell.

WRX Trans. and rear diff. I went this route, but it cost me $1500. I plan to have fun with the car, and I don't particularly want to replace a transmission again anytime soon. I also happened to pick up a 05 WRX box, which is the strongest of any model year WRX (excluding the STi).

If you're just looking to keep the car the way it is, buy a NA tranny and have fun with it. If it breaks, you're not out much. Doug Vincent is running a NA tranny in his 300hp wagon and it still works. So who knows. I would probably stay away from the turbo trans tho.

Thats what I was thinking about the N/A transmission. I am just going to install it and if I break it, I will just install another and start looking/saving for a turbo or WRX tranny.

the n/a 5sp will last depending on how you drive. one word of advise if your going to be halling ass alot. is just make sure your in gear before you start to drop the clutch espualy in second gear it takes the biggest beating. and its the one to break first.

from what I have seen, the NA trans are roughly half the price of a turbo unit. some prefer the feel of a hydraulic clutch, but I really like the feel of the cable clutch too and they will be simple to set up, no bleeding needed just hook up the cable and adjust it. the hydraulic clutch trans has very readily available option of wrx clutch/flywheel upgrades so that might be a factor too. not to say that there isnt anything available for the NA trans. I'd say stick with the NA.

New question, I have been running the NA 5 speed for a bit but the clutch is going. So what clutch upgrades are there, ie. will a 2.5 clutch set from a newer imprezzzzzzaaaaaa work? Am I right to think that any non-turbo clutch will work in this?
