He's tryin to get rid of it for cheep. Sounds like it just needs a tranny or trans work, perfect for a 5spd swap if you ask me.

MAN thats a awsome car, and if he tried all those things to fix it, probably wiring or TCU, or ground. Definitly looks mint!
