N/A Legacy Crankshafts (Are they cast iron or forged)

Getting ready to weld or braze the keyway on the crankshaft to repair damage done by key/pulley coming loose (last guy to do timing belt did not torque end bolt right). Are n/a Legacy Crankshafts cast iron, some alloy or forged steel. This will determine whether TIG welding, arc welding or some form of brazing can be done
