Tranny install.....??

Post by Josh Colombo »

Well after lookin the chilton manual....I may reconsider installing it
myself. There's a little too much in there with NO pictures for me to
be tackling this by myself. If someone was helping me, that knew what
they were doing. I'd be all for it...but I can't exactly say I wanna be
out of a car for a long time, and/or have to haul it to someone elses
shop in pieces.

Anyone have any comments or have done anything like this? Anyone have
any idea on the cost to do the swap?

Thanks

josh

Tranny install.....??

Josh, Get a Haynes Manual. They have them for the Legacy now,and personally
I find them far superior to the Chiltons. If you were to look at this
manual, the tranny swap might not seem so intimidating. As long as you have
some GOOD jackstands and a good jack, this job is not terribly difficult. A
good memory seems to help too. I have not done this on a Legacy(although I
probably will be soon) but have done it on several other cars both foreign
and domestic, and the Legacy doesn't look like it would be that bad.You
should however have access to some good tools. That is a good price for the
tranny, good luck. Bill Covert

Thanks Bill. It'll probably be until December until I get the time to
put it in, so I'll check out the Haynes manual.
