Power steering leak

Post by islander »

There's been a leak from the side fitting that I've been waiting to fix for a while but now is leaking constantly. Is there a gasket, o-ring or what in that fitting? Size?

Thanks in advance.

Yes there is an o-ring there. Check to make sure the fitting is tight. Also, I'd suggest cleaning everything up to make sure that is the spot it's leaking and that you're getting fresh fluid there, and not somewhere else.

The return line rubber hose will harden over time, and will leak. It's not a bad idea to replace this hose.

Because I tightened it is that it is leaking even more. I can see the fluid spilling from there. Do you know the O-ring size?

Now that I have to work around it I will check that too.

Unfortunately, no I do not know the size of the o-ring. I'd take off the line and just try and match one up with it.

I just took it the line over to my o-ring service kit and found the closest one that fit.
