all right guys lets put our brains together 89 loyale?

Post by thehookeup »

so at work i have a 89 loyale that i have been working on has a ea82(1.8)....
under gradual acceleration its just fine. But if you suddenly go wide open throttle it boggs and then tries to die. The distributor is brand new, so is the single fuel injector that is in the throttle body.

MAF voltage is perfect
ISC voltage is perfect and the idle valve ohms out perfect.
great fuel pressure.
O2 sensor voltage is good too
distributor timing is perfect 20 degrees BTDC with green D connector plugged in.
Injector timing is gradual and good.

all voltages on my scan tool show that everything is good

2 suabru master tech and myself have gone and double checked everything, and none of us can seem to figure it out.

the lady who owns the car has so far put in over 1300 bucks into this car. and to be honest the car is not worth it nor is the thing in good running condition. The car originally came in for a intermt dying problem. that was the distributor. i dont want to recommend a 3 new wiring harnesses for this thing just because the car isnt worth it.

any ideas?

no vac leaks pulls 17inches at idle. yea they do have a water temp sensor. and on my prehistoric scan tool i am getting a perfect reading. unfortunatly my job isnt depending on this job, but this doesnt look good on my performance rating

how do you tell a customer that the 1400 bucks they have spent still doesnt get their car running

For the hell of it, I say replace the O2 sensor.

My XT used to do that, it would get scary if I was pulling out in traffic and it would just bog down all of a sudden.

Replaced the O2 sensor and it has never done it since.

Do you have access to a wideband? Maybe its just going WAYYYYYYYYYY rich, like that extra injectors is 100 IDC.

Usually when someone is willing to dump that much money into an old car, they aren't concerned with a couple hundred more.

If this is a dealership you might want to use some of your other available resources, if not I dunno.
