hi all..
Been having some trouble with my coolant lately. As it's getting closer to
winter, i figure i need this wrapped up.
It's been drinking coolant like it's koolade, and the inside of the radiator
smells like exhaust fumes/fuel. I heard somewhere that this means that i
have a bad head gasket. As I have just parted ways with my last employer,
AND i'm on a college budget, anyone know exactly what this is? I don't want
to have to pay for all the diagnostics.
Thanks
Jason "Cheap-o college student" Grahn

leaky head gasket?
My head gasket leaked on another car I had, and it sounds remarkably similiar although I can't remember it smelling of exhaust fumes, check the dip stick for a white fluffy substance as this is what happened to me; but then i guess it makes a difference where you gasket has the leak, maybe it's going straight into the cylinder?
On the bright side I also had the same problem as you and it turned out to be the radiator cap gasket as it only leaked at very high continuious revs which I never got to see whan it was parked and revving it, I know our cars are slighty different then that example but could be something similair.
cross your fingers and pray
cheers
John
