Need help in identifying parts

Post by 93Leg-c »

In my '93 ss AT, I've got 3 black plastic boxes strapped to one another. They are located under the steering column. One wire is still attached but the rest are cut and just hanging bare (this is how I bought the car). CEL code 41 comes up but I don't know if these cut wires have anything to do with it). Can anyone help me identify these boxes, please? Part numbers are as follows:

Box #1: #202-2427 SOA 386R201
Box #2: #202-2436 Relay module
Box #3: #202-2431 Receiver module

Any help is much appreciated! Thanks!

Seems like something aftermarket, could be from an alarm or something.

Can I get pictures? Yes, I can with my camera phone -- up to 1280 x 960 resolution. And I'd be more than happy to do that. However, after I take the pics, I don't know what to do to get it posted. Anyone want to walk me through it step by step?

Heh heh, you can tell I'm a newbie at this.

HOW do I email them? More specifically, how do I get the pics from the cell phone into the computer? Then, what do I do after that?

You have to email them from the phone to yourself....or you could email them directly to me....that's up to you. As to specifically how to do that.....that will depend on the phone.

Thanks, Josh!

I tried using my phone but gave up on that idea since my friend offered her digital camera for use. So I borrowed it and took pics. But some of them didn't turn out so I went back to take more. Now my compuer doesn't recognize drive D where the pics are stored. I'll try to get things to work again.

I will check when I have the plastic piece off to pull codes, but that sounds suspiciously like my Subaru alarm modules.

Yes, that is for the accessory alarm system, which you can no longer get through subaru. And all dealers are out of stock on it too. Trust me on that one. I'm feenin for one of those, I forget if I have the relay or the reciever. Would you be willing to sell the whole set for a decent price? If so I'm on it.

Josh, I just emailed the pics to you. Thank you for offering to host them.

tonflo and SemperGuard: I think you both may be correct about what the boxes are. I thought that could be the answer when I saw the words "relay" and "receiver" modules on the boxes.

SemperGuard: As regards selling the parts, well, I actually was trying to figure out how to get it for my car. So, I'll probably see if I can make it work (although at the rate I figure things out and with my schedule, that might be a long time in coming . . . ). However, there always is the possibility that I may want to sell it. If you want to, you can PM me a price and I'll hold onto it for future reference.

Thanks for posting the link (and sending the email). I've been trying to figure out how to post the links when you posted it.

So, by the pics, can someone confirm what those black boxes are for, please? Thanks!
