Quick Windows question

Post by Tleg93 »

Normally, I'm the answer guy when it comes to computers but I have one that has me kind of stumped.

Before you get to the Windows splash screen there's a screen where you select the OS you wish to use. It stays up for an amount of time that you set in BIOS usually (unless you have a crappy BIOS version). I was hoping someone out there would know a quick and easy way to remove an OS listing without going through the uninstall process with the CD. Even if I could move the listing around it would be good.

The options are stored in a hidden file on the root of the primary drive, called boot.ini.

Yeah. Delete the entries for the OS's you don't use or will ever want to use.

This will differ with your Bios but go into your bios and de-select the choic option, this can be done in many was and some times in the form of just a quick boot. Good luck tho too many kinds of Bios to really know

Umm, the list of OS'es isn't BIOS based at all, its from boot.ini. Only BIOS which use the newer EFI would let you adjust the available OS'es and boot options/times -- and only Apple uses that atm.
