Clutch cabel keeps breaking on my 91 SS

Post by Red91SSFWD »

It used to be hydraulic AWD but my tranny went out a while back so I needed a new tranny. . It was really hard to find an AWD tranny for under 1k and I didnt have that kind of money. So i found a FWD n/a tranny for 200 bux. The bad thing is that it's clutch cabel breaks about once a month.. any suggestions? And If you guys could reccomend an AWD tranny that would bolt up to my car that you could find for under 500, that would be great. . I miss the AWD :(

are you running a cable style clutch or hydro?

because you can get n/a awd trannys at the junk yard for cheap....

or just rebuild your turbo tranny. if you are mechcanicly inclind to do a drive train swap you can rebuild a transmission. thats my two cents, good luck

I'd take a close look at your cable routing. Find an N/A car to see how the cable is run and duplicate that.

Are you using used clutch cables or are you buying new ones? I've snapped 3 of them before getting a new one that's held so far.
