Relocatin' the PurgeCanister Valve control solenoid whatever

Post by greg donovan »

i understand it is possible to mount a replacement for this solenoid someplace other than under the intake manifold.

is there any reason it would need to be under the manifold?

in other words is there any downside to relocating it to the strut tower?

i am talking about the source of Code 35.

It doesnt need to be under the manifold, it was just a clean, out of the way spot for subaru to put it

cool.

i need to replace mine but have been putting it off because i thought it was a pain to change the one on my NA subaru and couldnt even begin how to figure out how to change that sucker on the turbo car w/out pulling the turbo out.

relocating a new one and leaving the old one there till i pull the engine later on to refresh the seals and hoses sounds like a great idea.

what does this thing even do besides throw a code when it goes bad?

i noticed no change in driveablitiy/mpg on my old car when i replaced the bad one on it.

It's an emissions device. I guess it makes your car more environmentally friendly or something.......

I relocated mine to the top of the intake manifold, so I didn't even have to extend any wires.
