It would be purely cosmetic and just a way for filth to get into your engine bay.
What I would do personally is put the OEM air diverter back into the stock scoop so that it directed air over your T3/T4.

I actually had been thinking about that, but I'm actually in the works of doing what you said about diverting air over the T3/T4. That's why the WRX scoop was kinda worth while.
