after my 4eat to 5mt swap the car sits higher.
so i just finished my tranny swap. which went well for the most part. But..... now my front end sits up 1 1/2 - 2 inches higher. it looks funny. the reasons are obvious that auto weighs a ton and the MT is nearly nothing. just wanted to see if any one else experienced this. and if so what were your next steps?

really only 90lbs? cause i can lift by myself well over 250 off the ground and i and bearly do it with the AT. but the MT i can walk around with in my arms.
the suspension before the swap was awesome and there were no problems. i dunno i might just have a bad perception of the height. ill try to take pics tomorrow.

Andrew, before the superceded part number for struts, SOA used to have different stock numbers for Legacies with MTs and ATs, FWDs and AWDs. I'm pretty sure the originally designed struts in part compensated for the weight difference. Plus, since you have a Forester MT installed, that might even be an additional weight difference than the first gen Legacy MT.

wait a second... is everyone saying the 4EAT weighs in at only 90 pounds?????
i find this absolutly NOT THE CASE. when i tried to drag my 4EAT out from under my car, i couldnt budge it... then my dad and i ALSO couldnt budge it....
then the cherry picker could do it... but it was hurting...
I just cant believe that it weighs any less then 250 pounds.... if not reaching 300lbs....
that bit_h was HEAVY!!!!

looks like were all wrong. it was 500 pounds haha jk jk. it was 217 lbs without the torque converter, and with the fluid drained. that still sounds pretty light to me. but im pretty sure my scale doesnt lie.
also i cant imagine the bell housing weighs a 130 lbs lol.
i think that when we try to drag them out from under our cars, the tranny pan on the bottom is so big and has so much surface area that it gives the tranny something more to grab the ground with.
Steve how much did it cost to ship a tranny that must have been so expensive?
oh yea luigi thanx for the rear end. looks and sounds good

Actually In retrospec I suppose it might have been 90 kilos, which is about 200 lbs... but I could lift it out the back of my car by myself, and Im not a very big guy....
bellhousing + diff is about 60lbs, Id say, and the torque converter is probably somewhere around 30
I think shipping was around $100, but it was only going across the water to Vancouver

Great, so that's what I have to look forward to when I swap mine out... *Yeash* Not looking forward to trying to drop out the AT. I guess I'll see if I can get my buddy to open the shop and let me use the lift to do it.
