um... racing a 2000 Mercedes clk 320 on i-5. he wanted to see if he could keep up so i said.. ok . at about 125mph i thought i saw somthing hit my hood but keep'd goin. topped her off at about 135-138mph. then we pulled into a gas station to get some beer before we went to the strip club and this was the after math.
the clk has 215 horse power and the only performance mods i have are a boost controller and custom intake. pretty good race but i still am the victor.
p.s. the corner light didnt make that big dent on my fender if any of you are wondering.

The mounting tab was probably already cracked. They go with age and heat. The solution is to reinforce it with fiberglass or a strip of metal.

yeah mine popped off a while back, not much holding it on really, i put it back on with JB Weld for plastic, i wish i had thought of reinforcing but its fine for now i suppose
'Reinforcing' once it's broken makes it tough to get it to line up the light correctly and those damn clips on the fender are nearly useless as they exert almost no force to hold them in.

After the body shop hacked my car back together after a minor accident about 5 years ago, I was driving down the local toll road to go to school and my corner light flew out of the fender and dangled by the wire the rest of the way.
Turns out the f'ers broke the little mounting bracket on the light when changing the fender because they were too stupid to figure out how to remove it properly, so they GLUED it back into place. I ended up going to a JY and getting another corner light.

ya its gay. but anyways its looking like its time for me to do a 91 front end conversion. i was planing on doing this when i can afford a paint job. but when ever something like this happens i end up doing a big project. like when my tranny blew, i said what ever. any body say time for a conversion?
im planing on keeping the 2ed gen side lights on the fender, i really like them.

...the only problem is ive never seen a white one, i dont have the money for paint

That looks like a painful dent, but that's what you get for racing on a public highway....

the dent was there when i bought the car. its wasn't from the corner light.
i dont really like the 2ed gen front end but i really like the rear lights. so i thought i would do both of best worlds.
next time i go to a legacy meet it will really confuse the hell out of people.

had the same problem where mine disappeared at 120 mph. Went back and got it and put it back on to lose it again somewhere else. Then I finally bought some new ones.
The clips do nearly nothing beyond keeping it flush to the bodywork, but will not hold it if the single plastic tab fails.

my JB Weld has held for a little over a year now
is it something about the left side that makes it weaker? most the 1st gens in the junkyard i saw had broken left turn signals
i dunno. the only reson mine ripped off was because it wasn't flush with the front light. so when your hallin, all that wind is pretty powerful.
